Reservation of Seats

i)

Domiciles of HP

70% of the total seats are filled by the University on the basis of Counselling

 

Open for all at National Level

30% of the total seats are filled by the ICAR on the basis of All India Entrance Test

ii)

Self-financing Seats

Open for all at National Level

Admission to the master's programs shall be through counseling on the basis of merit of the qualifying degree. 70% seats  are reserved for domicile of Himachal Pradesh. The remaining 30% seats are filled through nomination by ICAR on the basis of All India Entrance Test conducted by ICAR New Delhi. The Academic Council may further approve admission to master's program in respect of the in service nominees of this university/ HP State Government/Autonomous bodies/ other state government.


Minimum Qualification 

B.Sc. (Horticulture)/ B.Sc. (Forestry)/B.Sc.(Agri.)/B.Sc./B.Sc.(Animal Husbandry) and Graduate with Economics/Economics and Math/Economics and Statistics with an OCPA of 6.00/10.00or its equivalents under course credit system or with a minimum of 60% under annual system fro a recognized university or degree from a foreign university with at least 'B' grade or its equivalent recognized by the Academic Council. The prescribed minimum marks shall be relaxed by 5% in the case SC/ST candidates and in service nominees.

The order of preference in qualifications for different programmes shall be as under:

i) M Sc Horticulture (Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Fruit Science, Vegetable Science)

a) B Sc Horticulture 4-year programme
b) B Sc Agriculture 4-year programme with Horticulture elective
c) B Sc Agriculture 4-year programme

ii) M Sc Food Technology

a) B Sc Hort./B Tech Food Tech/B Sc Food Technology 4-year programme

Basis of Admission 

a) The basis of admission shall be merit as determined by the result of the qualifying degree examination..

b) While determining the merit, weightage will be added to the result of the qualifying degree examination for sports, NSS and other co-curricular activities.
