The department of biotechnology was established in Dec.,1987. The department acquired infrastructure and other facilities for teaching and research with the financial assistance in the shape of research projects from agencies such as Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, World Bank Govt. of HP, ICAR, ICFRE, DRDO etc. The M.Sc. program was started in 1991 and Ph.D. program in 1996. Presently there are 12 M.Sc. and 27 Ph.D. students on rolls. The Department also offers courses to the undergraduate students of Horticulture and Forestry. The department has on going research programmes in the following areas of the biotechnology at the post graduate level

  • Genetic Transformation
