The College of Horticulture and Forestry is located at Neri in Hamirpur District of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of 13km from Hamirpur at an elevation of 650m above mean sea level. The major mandate of the College is human resource development in the areas of horticulture, forestry and related disciplines. The College is premier institution in the state currently imparting education in B.Sc. (Honours) Horticulture, B.Sc. (Honours) Biotechnology and B.Sc. (Honours) Forestry programmes.


The College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri, Hamirpur came into existence on august 27th 2014 as 3rd constituent college of Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. This has its roots in the erstwhile Institute of Biotechnology and Environmental Science, Neri, Hamirpur.



The college follows the course credit system of education under semester system. The curriculum is divided into a number of courses offered by different departments, and the academic year is divided into two semesters each of 20 weeks with short duration summer and winter breaks of 6 weeks each. The evaluation under semester system is external to the extent of 50% at undergraduate level. The recommendations of the IV Deans’ Committee of the ICAR have been implemented in the University and the entire course curriculum of the undergraduate degree has been revised and rescheduled. A student has to secure 50% marks to pass a course and an OGPA of 5.50 on a 10-point scale for becoming eligible for graduate degree.


To build an institution of excellence for learning in Horticulture, Forestry and Environmental sciences with a purpose to create human resource capable of meeting present and future needs of farm science education, industry and other stake holders.

The college is spread over an area of 354 kanals (14 ha). This also inherits two additional experimental farms of 5.32 ha at RH&FRS, Bhota and 10.44 ha at Neri-II (Khaggal) to cater to the needs of students’ experiments, practical and teachers/scientists research needs.
