The Phytopathological Club, in the Department of Plant Pathology has been upgraded to “Himalayan Phytopathological Society” in 2017 and this has been registered under the Societies Registration Act, 2006 with Registration No. PSH/16/892/2018 dated 31.12.2018. The Society has been formed with a vision to create a forum for discussion, deliberations, communication for furthering the discipline of plant pathology to develop sustainable disease management practices for the crops grown in the Himalayan region and other areas.

The objectives of the Society shall be as follows:
The name of the Society is: HIMALYAN PHYTOPATHOLOGICAL SOCIETY, Dr YASHWANT SINGH PARMAR UNIVERSITY OF HORTICULTURE AND FORESTRY
The office of the Society is located at Department of Plant Pathology of the University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan (HP) - 173 230
MEMBERSHIP:
All the scientists, Officers of State Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture, public and private entrepreneurs, students and farmers desirous for working towards this vision are requested to come together and become member of the HPS, by paying Rs. 500/- in favour of A/C name: Himalyan Phytopathological Society; Bank Name- UCO Bank, UHF, Nauni, HP 173230; Account number: 09690100001689; IFSC code: UCBA0000969. The registration form of the Society will be uploaded soon on the University website in the link of the Society. After remitting the requisite fee, the intimation in the prescribed registration form may be sent to the Secretary HPS through E-mail:secretaryhps2018@gmail.com
The Society is engaged in organizing various activities like Workshops, brain storming sessions, guest lectures, field visits for farmer-scientist interaction, excursion visits, publication of E-Magazine- Technology Notes to further the science and technology output out of plant pathology.
The Society has organized workshops and symposia:
1. “Technological Advancements in Plant Pathology” on May 4, 2016.
2. ‘Advances in Disease Management Technologies in Horticultural Crops’ on December 7, 2016
3. Co-hosts of National Symposia on ‘BIORATIONAL APPROAHES IN PLANT DISEASES MANAGEMENT’ on October 27-28, 2017
4. Co-hosts ‘Alternative Approaches in Plant Health Management for Enhancing Farmers' Income’ on November 2-3, 2018 being organized at the main campus of the University at Nauni.
5. The Society organized satellite Symposium on “Crop Protection in Horticulture” in collaboration with International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS), the Crop Protection Societies in India, ICRISAT and XIX International Plant Protection Congress (IPPC 2019) on “Crop Protection to Outsmart Climate Change for Food Security & Environmental Conservation” at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) on 10-14 November, 2019, Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
