The prestigious scheme of the Goverment of India ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav’ was launched in the University on December 8, 2015 by the Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Singh Thakur in the presence of all the scientists of the main campus. This scheme was launched at the national level by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on July 25, 2018 at the 87th Foundation day of the ICAR. The scheme aims at providing information to the farmers on technical and other related aspects in a time frame. Under the scheme around 20,000 scientists working under National Agricultural Research and Education System would have direct interface with the farmers to hasten the Lab to Land process.
For its smooth implementation in the University, a Nodal Cell has been created with Dr. Rajesh Kaushal as the Nodal Officer and Dr. V K Chaudhary and Dr. Pratima Rana as members to liaison between the University activities & achievements with the ICAR. Thirty two teams have been constituted consisting of 4 multi disciplinary scientists who would be visiting their adopted village on regular intervals to solve the problems of the farmers. Their visits would also aim at providing information to the farmers about farm inputs, seed, fertilizers, climate, market, machinery etc. They would also make the farmers aware of the government schemes, Swachh Bharat mission, water conservation, soil fertility and other related issues. The progress and the achievements of the university would be reported by the nodal officer to the ICAR on quarterly basis.
