Library Membership

Membership of the Library is open at no charge to all the bonafide teachers, students and employees of the University and members of the Statutory Bodies of the University, provided one can be member only at the concerned Campus/Research Station Library. Members can make use of library collection and facilities and services in accordance with the rules. Every member permitted to use the library shall be provided with Library smart card which are returnable and which on demand should be presented to the Library Staff. The readers will have the privileges of direct/open access to the stack area of the University Library.

Non University Membership

The SNS library extends its welcome to users who want to use library but are not a part of this university as a student, teachers or other staff. A user who is in graduation/graduated and wants to avail library services get library membership at Rs500/ month by providing necessary details.

Special Membership

Retired scientists or persons other than those listed above can be enrolled as special Members with the permission of the Vice-Chancellor on payment of Rs. 250/- as security.

Category of membership and Loan Privilege

Books can be borrowed for home use by the members during the lending hours on clear understanding that they are fully responsible for safety, proper up keeping and timely return of the books.

Registered Library members are allowed to check out Library documents as per their entitlement mentioned above. Reference Books, Reports, Theses, Journals and video cassettes are not issued out. Textbooks are issued for overnight.

The library smart card shall remain valid for the period indicated on them.

Documents checked out from the Library should be returned at the circulation desk, during its working hours, i.e. 10.00 PM to 5.00 PM on any working day.

A library user can reserve a book currently out on loan by filling-in a form available at the Circulation Counter. Notifications for availability of reserved books are placed on the Library notice board.

The loss of smart card should be reported to the Librarian, Duplicate smart card can be issued, after validity of his lost smart card, on payment of Rs.200.00. Borrowers shall be responsible for any loss or misuse of their smart card.

The borrower is required either to replace the books with a recent edition, if available or pay its cost plus Rs 100.00 as handling charges.

Overdue charges at the rates mentioned below are charged for late return of the books:

  • Re. 3.00 per day for the books issued from General Section
  • Rs. 5.00 per day for the books issued from textbook Section.
