Department of Entomology Nauni,Solan (HP)

Established in 2023, the Club has been committed to encouraging scientific curiosity, organizing knowledge-sharing activities, and supporting the academic and professional aspirations of its members in the field of Entomology. It also strives to bridge the gap between laboratory research and field application by promoting sustainable pest management practices, empowering farmers with practical solutions, and contributing to improved crop protection and rural development. The Entomology Club regularly organizes structured mock tests as part of its academic enrichment activities to support M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in systematic preparation and revision of the entomology syllabus. These mock tests are designed to align with the pattern and difficulty level of national competitive examinations such as NET, SRF and JRF, helping students assess their conceptual understanding, identify knowledge gaps and improve time management skills. By providing a periodic, exam-oriented evaluation platform, the club aims to strengthen subject clarity, promote consistent revision, and enhance students’ confidence for competitive examinations in entomology.

The objectives of the Society shall be as follows:

  • To contribute to the betterment of farmers and vulnerable groups by promoting sustainable pest management practices that help minimize crop damage and support rural development.
  • To serve as a common platform for sharing ideas, scientific information, and enhancing knowledge among members, students, and the farming community in Entomology, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Vector Biology.
  • To organize social activities, seminars, expert talks, workshops, personality and enrichment programs, farmer awareness camps, and field demonstrations such as pest detection, beekeeping, and silkworm rearing.
  • To accept donations, grants, and acquire movable or immovable assets from government, semi-government bodies, or individuals in the name of the society to fulfil its goals.
  • To ensure all activities are carried out for the welfare of society without discrimination based on caste, creed, or colour.
  • To encourage the growth of agricultural sciences and plant protection, with a special emphasis on Agricultural Entomology and conservation of beneficial insects such as pollinators and natural enemies.
  • To spread valuable knowledge through social, digital, and conventional communication channels, including establishing and maintaining libraries, reading rooms, or insect collections and museums for members.
  • To support economically disadvantaged students and researchers in Agriculture and Entomology by strengthening professional skills such as taxonomy or biological control and enabling them to become self-reliant.
  • To publish or facilitate the publication of books, bulletins, and journals that promote research and technologies related to Entomology, Plant Protection, and indigenous pest management practices.
  • To conduct or participate in academic courses, research programs, and seminars focusing on insect diversity and pest management strategies.
  • To undertake any additional activity aligned with the aims and objectives of the society.
