Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% marks in case of SC/ ST/ Physically Challenged category candidates/ in-service nominees of Himachal Pradesh Government) in the above subjects.
OR
Candidate should have passed Examination of a University/ Board/ College/ School in a foreign country recognized by the Academic Council as equivalent to 10+2 with science subjects mentioned above provided the candidate has obtained at least 60% aggregate marks or ‘B’ grade/equivalent.
Admission shall be open to all eligible candidates subject to the reservation of seats as under:
50% of normal seats are reserved for candidates belonging to rural areas and the remaining 50% seats shall be open for other bonafide Himachali candidates.
Rural Area:
A bonafide Himachali candidate passing at least two out of three examinations from a school affiliated to the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), located outside the limits of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat, Cantonment Board, or Notified Area Committee within the territorial jurisdiction of Himachal Pradesh.
Further, under both categories (Rural and Non-rural) of Bonafide Himachali,
the gist of reservation of seats is as under.The University has implemented the reservation roster (currently being followed by the Himachal Pradesh Department of Medical Education & Research, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh for admission to MBBS/BDS) as follows:-

Normal Seat:
The marks obtained in entrance test will be considered for admission to Undergraduate Programmes of this University. The syllabus for the entrance test is given in annexure-I of the Prospectus. The candidates having secured less than 45 marks in the entrance test shall not be considered for appearing in the Counselling Process. In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks, the candidate with highest percentage at qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 level shall be considered for admission. In case tie still occurs, the elder in age will be considered for admission.
Self-financing Seat:
The marks obtained at 10+2 level in four subjects viz., English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics will be considered for admission to Undergraduate Programmes of this University. In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks, the elder in age will be considered for admission.
Sport and Co-curricular activities seat (Normal Seat Only):
Eligibility criteria will be the same as for other candidates of normal seats. The merit of candidates shall be determined on the basis of aggregate score in different sports and co-curricular activities during last four academic years (upto 31st July of the concerned year) as per prescribed weightage.
If candidates have equal aggregate score under sports category, the candidate with higher marks in the entrance test (not less than 45 marks) shall be placed higher in the merit list. If tie still occurs, higher qualifying examination percentage will be considered, and thereafter age.

The merit list of candidates shall be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in UGET-2023. No candidate securing less than 45 marks shall be included in the counselling process.
The merit list shall be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics.
